Kismet on Lenovo IdeaPad V470

To use Kismet to monitor wireless networks on the Lenovo IdeaPad V470 you must edit the kismet configuration file, /etc/kismet/kismet.conf and change two lines. For the field suiduser remove the hash (#) and set to your username, e.g.:

suiduser=sgordon

For the source field set it to:

source=iwl4965,wlan0,intel

Then after you made sure your wireless LAN is working (in particular, test that you can connect to a wireless AP) then run kismet:

$ sudo kismet
